Course Description

This course surveys the history of art from the Renaissance to modern art in Western history. The roots of European artistic developments will be examined with consideration given to the social, religious, and political contexts shaping art production during this time. Cross-cultural trends in non-European art will also be explored for influence and relevant global impact.
