Course Description
This course is a study of basic mechanical components. The course will span the basic functions and physical properties of mechanical components and the roles they play in the system. Students will gain knowledge and experience with materials, lubrication requirements and surface properties. Additionally, troubleshooting techniques will be introduced for identifying and resolving mechanical faults. Preventative maintenance methods and mechanical component safety will be emphasized. Technical documentation such as data sheets and specifications of mechanical elements will also be covered. The course includes two class hours and two laboratory hours.
